In front of a packed filled Pines, standing room only, on January 23, 2016, 16 teams and over 200 spectators laughed until they cried as teams competed for the coveted Traveling Trophy that was created by Rexair apprentices and engineers for the event.
Area business supported the event.
Special thanks to: Ms. Candice Vickery of Cadillac Mortgage the Queen Bee Sponsor.
Vickery was instrumental in the development of the fundraiser and contributed $10,000 to the event designated for new Orchestra instruments.
Other support came from Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital, Dr, Jacob Brown with Active Chiropractic, Dr, Roger Bandeen of Bandeen Orthodontics, DK Design Group and Chemical Bank. Media Partners: 9and10News, 96.7 The Bull, and Cadillac News. Just over $15,000 was raised.
The winning Spelling team was Cadillac Family Physicians "Masters of Medical
Mumbo Jumbo", the Best Team Theme went to DK Design Group represented by CHS Teachers: "Highway to Spell"
CAPS Orchestra students will receive: Cellos: 16 full size and 10 smaller sized instruments Basses: 3 full size. Extra bows and strings will also be purchased,
The event created further excitement with $5,000 being allocated to start CAPS (Legacy) Endowment Fund administered by Cadillac Area Community Foundation. In the future the Fund will benefit students through teaching and learning at Cadillac Area Public Schools.
