Forest View Rocks

Contributor:  Mr. Matt Brown, Principal Forest View Elementary.

This past Fall, I read the students a book "Only One You," and then students decorated rocks to represent themselves. We talked about each student being their own person with unique attributes and characteristics. That we all come from various backgrounds, have different interests and enjoy various activities. We then took all our rocks and mixed them up and laid them out in front of the school to show that despite all these differences we all belong to one school. We talked about how there's only one you in this great big world, and we need to make the world a better place. I wanted students to make a connection and understand that they, in their own way, can truly make a difference in their lives and the lives around them.
