Serving at the Senior Center

Posted: Wednesday, November 25, 2015

Hi, my name is Chelsea Wingrove and this is my first year at Cooley High School.  As part of my service project, I went with my teacher Pat Galloup,  and principal Mr. Champion, along with some other students, to the senior center to serve Thanksgiving dinner. When I first went to the senior center, I was worried about messing things up and was nervous about the fact that I am so shy and that would affect my ability to do a good job serving. Everyone was so sweet though! They used “please” and “thank you” more than I ever imagined they would. They kept letting all of us, who helped served that day, know that we were doing a wonderful job! It made me, and I’m sure the rest of the kids that helped out, feel very good about ourselves for being able to help others out.

I loved my visit to the senior center! It was an absolutely wonderful experience, everyone was so nice and polite. I think visiting the senior center really helped to boost my confidence, and I would love to be able to do something like this again!
