Viking Marching Band WINS Battle of the Bands
Posted: Wednesday, November 25, 2015
The Cadillac Viking Marching Band joined 11 other bands marching down Woodward Avenue in Detroit during America's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thanksgiving Day. The Vikings first appearance came in 2011 during a cold and blustery Thanksgiving morning. In this appearance the weather was milder and soggy but the Vikings brought their EXCITEMENT and TALENT to Woodward and represented Northern Michigan beautifully!
The band trained throughout the fall in preparation for the distance that was covered as they marched in this major event televised worldwide.
Making things just a little more interesting, the Marching Vikings were in the annual Battle of the Bands Competition. Thank you to everyone for taking time to vote over the weekend in support of the Cadillac Viking Marching Band! Your efforts were "instrumental" to our success.

The Cadillac High School Marching Band won first place in the Battle of the Bands after performing in America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit.
The Marching Vikings won with 26 percent of the votes, with Waterford Kettering following close behind with 23 percent of the votes, and Southgate Anderson coming in third with 21 percent of the votes.
"As a team, as a group, as a band family, the way they represented Cadillac was amazing," says Heather John, president of the Cadillac Band Boosters. "We couldn't have asked for better weather and we couldn't have asked for a better group of kids."
Voting closed yesterday at noon. Cadillac was among 11 other high school bands that performed in the parade.
