In the 1940's and 1950s the population of the Cadillac area was greatly impacted by the affects of war.
In 1953 Carl T. Johnson and other local business leaders along with the new Superintendent Merle Bird planned for the $70,000 Veterans Stadium.
School records indicate that Veteran's Memorial Stadium opened in September 1955.
At that time, CAPS History shows that The board of Education improved vocational studies and the athletic program.
Outside of the stadium you will find plaques honoring Cadillac Area Veterans.
